About Us
A Writing Chance, a NJ Non Profit Corporation, is leading creative writing movement across the nation, which focuses on sharing the importance and benefits of writing with the nation’s youth.
We introduce and cultivate the art of writing, while encouraging both children and adolescents to pursue, explore and remain passionate regarding writing as an integral part of their present and future. We empower, encourage, and support each individual’s writing efforts, from writing as a hobby, all the way to becoming a published author.

Give Your Future A Writing Chance!
A Writing Chance is supported by individuals that are passionate about writing and our nation’s youth. In this age of technology and the current Generation Y’s interest in immediate gratification, the gadget, the gaming system, social media, etc., we believe it is important to provide redirection to our youth regarding their ability to engage in the arts, cultivate and exercise their talents, share their gifts, and pursue their dreams.
There is power in our use of words! We encourage the exploration of creative writing to assist in dealing with personal issues and overcoming battles in a healthy and productive way. We also promote sharing our universal truths through writing in a way that will touch the lives of others by finding and tapping into the common threads that connect each member of the human race. We empower individuals with the necessary information, tools, and resources to not only enhance their writing ability, but also pursue goals and aspirations of publishing their work and successfully traveling professional career paths that are centered on writing.
We wish to inspire our youth to let their voices resonate within our nation’s history by writing their way into the future.
Our Founder

Charesse R. Forbes
Charesse Forbes is a native of the state of New Jersey. Born and raised in the city of Newark, Charesse matriculated her way through a private school system for her entire preliminary education periods - both elementary and high school. While she excelled in subjects that required heavy lifting with writing, her successes in mathematics directed her down a path that focused on business and finance during her college studies in upstate NY, leading to a very successful career in the pharmaceutical industry back in her home state of NJ, where she provides financial analysis, strategic pricing guidance, and support for specific products, brands, and therapeutic areas.
Charesse’s desire to write never ceased, however, as she began traveling down life’s journey of career, marriage, and children, writing took a backseat to other responsibilities and priorities. After four children, and during a very pivotal transition period in her life, she revisited her passion and began writing as both a therapeutic measure and tool for healing her mind, heart and soul. While she never really endeared her ability to write as a talent, but rather an innate skill that each person possessed, she began to be more transparent with her writings, and chose to share some of them frequently via various social media mediums. Amazed at people’s reactions and support of her gift, she decided to take ownership of her creative prowess, and dedicate more time to sharpen her craft, continuing to use her writings as a means of releasing aggressions and emotions, and also an opportunity to touch the lives of others.
While Charesse continues to manage and balance both her work and home life, she is currently focusing her attention on her personal aspirations and goals of publishing several pieces of her work, the first being a book of prayers that helped her get through difficult times, as well as a fiction novel, and her successful blog website, www.ressesdots.com. She is also working on the successful launch of the non-profit organization, A Writing Chance, whose mission is to introduce and cultivate the art of writing, while encouraging both children and adolescents to pursue, explore and remain passionate regarding writing as an integral part of their present and future. The group will empower, encourage, and ultimately, support each individual’s writing efforts, from writing as a hobby, all the way to becoming a published author.
